Activities
Carsten is co-leading KSRI / DSI, spearheading IBM’s strategic industry on campus engagements at KIT, and aims at further fostering joint endeavors in i.e., services science, AI, and Quantum.
He has been working in Karlsruhe as a researcher, and lecturer at KIT, as business unit leader at FZI, and has always been acting as a strong promotor of networking initiatives amongst local SMEs, industry, and science.
In IBM, he is currently responsible for Customer Success Management, owning IBM’s clients' successful adoption of data & AI solutions with his team.
Curriculum Vitae
Dr Carsten Holtmann (carsten.holtmann∂de.ibm.com) is director of the Karlsruhe Services Research Institute (KSRI) at KIT and in Customer Success Management for IBM Deutschland GmbH. Over the last 12 years, he held multiple national and international leadership positions in IBM sales and consulting, delivering client success with data- and AI-enriched services and industry solutions.
Prior to that, he has been a business unit leader at FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik/ Karlsruhe and co-founder/ advisory board member of different start-ups.
Carsten holds a degree in economics and earned a Ph.D. from KIT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Information Engineering and Management, where he worked as a (post-doctoral) researcher between 1999 and 2005. He co-edited multiple books, published peer-reviewed articles on digital services engineering as well as the industrial application of data & AI, and lives with his family in Karlsruhe/ Germany.
